320 Queen Anne/ Ellie Passivhaus

Multi-Family Housing Seattle, WA

CLIENT: Balance Architects

DESCRIPTION:

Ellie Passivhaus is the third multi-family Passive House apartment in Seattle, and the largest at the time of its opening. Designed to the PHIUS+ 2015 passive house standard, this building has an exceptionally high-performance enclosure that helps reduce the building energy consumption by an estimated 80%-90%. The Ellie Passivhaus project was 35% above the Priority Green requirement for Seattle’s permit process and it nearly meets the threshold for being entirely ‘Net-Zero Energy’. This reduces the cost of electricity for the building up to 50%.
