The Jefferson Houston Elementary School is an approximately 125,000 sq. ft. three storey, elementary school in Alexandria, Virginia. The building includes a gymnasium, classrooms, administration areas, kitchen and dining facilities, and support space.
The results of the energy analysis predicted an approximate energy savings of 48.2% for the Design Case compared to the code-required Baseline Case. Three ECMs were evaluated. The energy cost savings below code for the design case including all three ECMs were found to be 48.74%, which qualifies for 16 EA Credit 1 points under LEED 2009. The project earned LEED Gold certification
