Mt. Cuba Center is a botanical garden committed to the conservation of native plants and their habitats. The new greenhouse / headhouse facility was constructed to propagate native plants and to house offices and staff facilities. The new facility incorporates geothermal heating and cooling, a highly insulated building envelope, and other efficiency features and will use approximately 70% less energy than a typical greenhouse facility. A 165 kW solar array installed on the roof and over parking will bring the facility to Net Zero Energy use.
